Kashayadhara is a traditional therapeutic technique deeply rooted in Ayurveda, an ancient holistic healthcare system. This practice entails the gentle streaming of specialized herbal infusions or medicinal fluids along the body. By harnessing the remedial attributes of carefully selected herbs and the uninterrupted flow of liquids, Kashayadhara seeks to facilitate detoxification, induce relaxation, and foster a harmonious equilibrium between the physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions.
“Kashayam” means “decoction” and “dhara” means “continuous pouring”.
This treatment involves pouring of herbal decoction over the entire or any given part of the body. The decoction is chosen according to your health condition. Based on the herbs selected for making the decoction, this treatment can be used for treating skin diseases like eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, neurological diseases, muscle pain, and inflammation.
Procedure of Kashayadhara
During Kashaya Dhara, the decoction is continuously poured over the body while maintaining a specific rhythm, height, and temperature. The decoction is simultaneously massaged into the body throughout the treatment. When applied over the body, it may be over a specific area or the entire body.
The procedure involves:

POOORVAKARMA
A thorough examination of the patient’s prakruthi and vikruthi should be done to select the quantity of kashayam required.

PRADHANA KARMA
• The kashayadhara starts with padapooja followed by gentle oil massage.
• The patient is laid in the supine position and from a certain height; lukewarm kashayam is poured in a particular rhythm by two trained therapists.
• During the procedure gentle massage is performed along with pouring of kashayam
• Therapy works mildly perspiring the patient which is very relaxing

PASHCHAT KARAMA
• Adviced to take rest followed by a hot water bath.
• Hair must be washed with medicated water.
